On 11 October 2022, as part of the Czech Presidency of the EU Council, the Civil Society Organisations group, as one of the three groups of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), organised a conference in Ostrava on the topic of Finding a new shape for the Moravian-Silesian Region in order to ensure a socially just transformation.
The event took place in the World of Technology, located in the Dolní Vítkovice complex, with the participation of distinguished guests and EESC members from 27 EU countries. The conference focused on how the Moravian-Silesian Region, as one of the three Czech coal regions, is succeeding in its transformation to a low-carbon economy. Bezdínek Farm, as one of the exemplary local employment projects in the region, highlighted in its presentation in particular the difficulties of “sustainability” in the context of rising heat supply prices.
